|
At the hill resort of Kausani the
mountains rise so dramatically as if to reach the heavens. In fact not just
Kausani the entire Kumaon Hills have been known for their idyllic beauty with
the huge mountains silhouetted against the sky. Kausani was originally called
Valna. Kausani offers the magic of the deep pine forests and the majestic
mountains. Kausani is the birthplace of the famed poet Sumitra Nandan Pant
and often referred to as the 'Switzerland of India.
|
Sightseeing |
The major attraction at Kausani is
that it offers wondrous vistas of the Kumaon Himalayas. You may enjoy the
endless stretch of famous peaks like the Nanda Devi, Trishul and the
Nandakot.
While in Kausani you may move to the various vintage-points in order to capture the spectacular sights of the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas that are spread majestically across the 300 km range. The sunrise and the sunset are the special moments for the nature lovers and the photographers alike. |
Anasakti Ashram: A quiet and revered place where the Father of the Nation
spent some days. Set against the breathtaking beauty of the Himalayas, this
place has been made into a memorial in his memory. In 1929, Mahatma Gandhi spent
12 days here. He was so enamoured of Kausani that he called it the
Switzerland of India and brought his thoughts out in his book called Anasakti
Yoga. The place where he stayed is called the Anasakti Ashram.
|
Pant Museum: The famous poet of Hindi literature, Sumitranandan Pant
was born at Kausani. A little away from the bus stand is a museum named after
him. The house which has the museum is the poet's house of his childhood
days. His daily use articles, drafts of his poems, letters, his awards etc.
are displayed here.

Weekend Kausani Package Tour 2 Nights and 3 Days
NATURE TOURIST SPOT OF GREATER HIMALAYA
Grand View Hotel
Dalhousie
Nestled
in the Himalayas, Dalhousie was the chosen getaway of the English top brass.
Grand View Hotel is just five minutes away from the town centre. It’s a simple
space, and we recommend you choose the old wing—wood paneled and decidedly
colonial—to live in. Tiffins, the in-house restaurant, spreads out lavish
buffets, while the Garden Party Coffee Shop, serves up some lovely views and
some nice, strong coffee.
Chevron Rosemount
Ranikhet
If
you’re interested in time travel, check in at the Chevron Rosemount. The
colonial-styled heritage rooms weigh heavy with a deep and comforting silence
that only hill stations can allow. The hotel was built in the year 1900, and
the solid stone façade and wrought-iron grills charm in no small measure. The
rooms overlook the Himalayas and we recommend a leisurely walk around the
property through the pine forests.
Wildflower Hall
Shimla
Two
heated swimming pools, an award-winning spa, and a menu of adventure sports
make Wildflower Hall the perfect option for a romantic weekend. It’s set in a
dense cedar forest and surrounded by snow-covered peaks. The travel desk
arranges activities, there is 24-hour butler service, and you can tuck into
some of the best pan-Asian fare at the restaurant. With children below 10 not
allowed, you can be assured of a quiet dinner.
Neemrana Fort Palace
Neemrana
Head
to Neemrana village when all you want is quiet time with your partner. At the
Neemrana Fort Palace, the seven wings are tiered on a hill. Hanging gardens and
pools complete your playpen and the only distractions are the Ayurvedic
massages and a vintage car tour of the village. Sansha, the spa, is a haven of
pampering, complete with yoga and meditation. We recommend the body scrubs,
prepared with fresh seasonal fruit, to get rid of the urban stress.
VISA FREE DESTINATIONS FOR INDIAN TOURISTS
Laos
The
reclusive Laos, just emerging from its strife-torn past, is a little-known
wonder that Indians have begun discovering. Explore the largely untouched
Bolaven Plateau on motorcycle, walk the streets of Vientiane’s Chinatown, or
take a boat cruise up the Laos section of the Mekong River. You will need to
fill up the form (available online), carry a photograph, confirmed itinerary, and
US$ 40 (visa fees). Your passport must have at least six months of validity.
Thailand
Asia
Fun,
food, beaches, and shopping—you cannot go wrong with Thailand. It is one of the
most popular destinations for Indians, thanks in part to the hassle-free visa
process. When flying to Thailand, carry your photographs, proof of funds,
confirmed itinerary, and 1,000 baht (visa fee) along with your application
form. At the airport, head to the Visa-on-Arrival desk, with these and your
passport, which must have at least six months of validity.
Cambodia
Asia
Cambodia
may not be as slick and touristy as Thailand, but it makes up for that with
natural beauty, history and architecture. The temples at Angkor Wat are a
must-see, and the street-food is mind-blowing. To explore all this and more,
Cambodia gives you a 30-day visa on arrival. You will have to bring along a
passport-sized photograph, proof of funds, confirmed itinerary and US$ 20 (visa
fees). Your passport must have at least six months of validity.
Vietnam
Asia
Vietnam
has plenty of war memorabilia, but it’s also a vibrant country with plenty of
great street-life (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City) and natural wonders (Ha Long Bay).
Vietnam issues a 30- or 90-day single or multiple-entry visa on arrival. You
need a prior approval letter from a Vietnam-based tour-operator (can be
obtained online in a couple of days). This will cost you approximately US$ 25,
plus another US$ 25 at the airport for the visa-stamp.
Madagascar
Africa
Hundreds
of rare, indigenous species of animals, birds and plants have prompted people
to refer to Madagascar as the eighth continent. Visit the Ankarana and the
Montagne d’Ambre National Parks for their caves, canyons, rainforests,
volcanoes and waterfalls. Constance Tsarabanjina, in the Nosy Be Archipelago,
offers unspoiled beaches and superb diving. There’s more to Madagascar and you
may want to use all of the 90 days you will be allowed on arrival.
Hong
Kong
Asia
Hong
Kong will give you a visa on arrival provided you show an air-ticket confirming
your return within 14 days, and forex sufficient to fund your stay or an
international credit card. Your passport needs to be valid for at least six
months and should have two or more unused pages. Once inside, visit The Peak,
Hong Kong’s highest point. For kids, there’s Disneyland and Ocean Park, while
for shopaholics and foodies, there’s the Temple Street Market.
Indonesia
Asia
Indonesia
is a vast country and sprawls across two time zones. It is home to ancient tribes,
thick tropical forests and some stunning islands. Thrill-seekers can
walk up the Gunung Bromo volcano. You will need all the time you can
get to explore this beautiful country, perhaps why it offers a 30-day visa on
arrival. The fees for the visa are US$ 25. You will need to produce a
passport-sized photograph, proof of funds, and a confirmed itinerary.
Jordan
Asia
Explore
lost cities of the Testament, dine with locals and sleep in a Bedouin tent
amidst the dramatic desert scenery of Wadi Rum. Take a trip through history via
Petra’s magnificent architecture. Jordan has plenty of attractions, and it
gives you a 14-day visa on arrival to explore all of them. Carry a photograph,
proof of funds, a confirmed itinerary and JOD 20 towards visa fees. Your passport
must be valid for three months or more.
Ethiopia
Africa
If
Ethiopia has never been on your travel list, the 30-day visa-on-arrival should
serve as an incentive. Addis Ababa, the capital, is home to The Merçato, one of
Africa's largest markets, and is the resting place of Lucy, mankind's oldest
ancestor. Do not miss the gorgeous rock-hewn churches of Lalibela. Explore
the stunning Simien Mountains, especially the city of Gondar with its
magnificent castles. Axum is Ethiopia's oldest city, and was once home
to the Queen of Sheba.
Jamaica
North America
This
third largest island in the West Indies is easily the most famous of them all.
Home to Bob Marley, music is a part of Jamaica, as much as the beaches, rum and
jerk chicken. It’s not just reggae; calypso, ska and African tribal music also
dominate the scene. Bars, clubs and just a sing-song on the beach are Jamaica’s
favourite pastimes. Getting in is a breeze—you get a 14-day visa on producing a
photo, proof of funds, and a confirmed itinerary.

5 nos Stunning Island Resorts in the Maldives
Helengeli
Island Resort
A 15-minute flight from the Male International Airport
will take you to this beautiful beach resort. With 50 rooms carved into 25
bungalows, this island can get busier than the others, but the vast beach and
thick tree cover ensure you have your space. The rooms are adequate, if not
expansive, and you can shower open-air in the privacy of your garden. The
island is fringed by a lovely reef making it a beautiful dive site for
beginners.
Angsana Ihuru
This groovy 45-villa resort is located on a tiny island
which you can circumnavigate in 10 minutes. It is surrounded by a reef abundant
in fish-life. Several spa therapies from all over Asia are on offer at Angsana
Ihuru. The best part? The Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, a high-end sister property
can be visited and its facilities used for free.
Hilton Maldives / Iru Fushi Resort & Spa
A 45-minute scenic seaplane ride gets you here from Male.
Situated in the virgin Noonu Atoll, on a 21-hectare island, this resort has 221
rooms, 10 superb restaurants and bars, and a spa with 21 treatment chambers.
Sample the freshest Maldivian seafood at Islander’s Grill, or enter the world
of wine-pairing with a guided blind-tasting at The Cellar. Send the kids on
snorkelling safaris while you indulge in some soothing Ayurvedic
spa-treatments.
One & Only
The One & Only blends surreal accommodation with
superlative service to serve up a magical experience. The water villas, with
split-level verandahs and hammocks over turquoise waters, are perfect for
couples, while the beach villas back on the shore are great for families with
children. There’s a dedicated children’s area in the resort where they can
enjoy watersports under expert guidance, while their parents can enjoy some
quiet time on the sand.
Taj Exotica Resort and Spa
The architecture and room-design here are all
classic-Maldivian. Sun decks, private plunge pools and dedicated spa rooms in
each villa are the other memorable features of this property. The main attraction
though is the Jiva Grande Spa, where treatments are supervised by an Ayurvedic
doctor. The Indian Royal Mud Bath is not to be missed. Check out the spa-café
that serves up low-calorie cuisine, and the restaurants that serve, among other
delights, familiar Indian food.
