Silvassa - Weekend Getaway from Ex-Mumbai

Highlights
Silvassa, the tiny sleepy capital township, still retains the traces of Portuguese rule. It is a `Garden Beautiful' with the roaring waterfalls, misty cascades, rustic stone walls, twin arches, tiny kiosks and springing lawns interspersed with islands of flowers. Sightseeing

The Tribal Cultural Museum:
The ethnic tribal culture and heritage of Silvassa is preserved in this museum. The entrance of the museum is exquisitely made of hand-made torans. This museum houses puppets and dolls showing tribal lifestyle, tribal ornaments, tribal fishing and hunting gadgets, etc. the clay models in the museum add to its fame. The walls of the museum are dressed with the bows, daggers, spears, etc. used by the tribals. Apart from these models and antiques, there are several photographs of tribal festivals and ceremonies. Be it the aerobatic Dhol dance or the high-on-tempo, Tur dance the photographs captures the true tribal spirit and aura.

Vanganga Lake and Island Garden:
This place is famous because of its beauty as well as for being the hot spot for many Bollywood movies. Various songs are picturised at the backdrop of the Vanganga lake and the Island Garden. Boating facilities in the region help tourists to enjoy the nature in the area.

Hirva Van:
This garden is dedicated to the local tribal deity "Hirva," meaning greenery or forest. The garden is located at Pipria on the Silvassa-Dadra Road. The mist settles on this garden like a blanket and wraps the old walls and arches.

Khanvel:
Khanvel is famous for its lush green hills. This tourist complex is 25 kms away from Silvassa. In the midst of a forest, Khanvel is truly enchanting. Sakartod river flowing through the terraced meadows in the hills gives the place a charm of its own.

Dudhni:
This is a Water Sports Complex on river Damanganga. The view of the Madhuban Dam from here is truly amazing. The Church of Our Lady of Piety: This is one of the oldest churches of India, built in 1889. The Bindrabin temple: This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located on the bank of River Sakartod. Apart from these tourist spots, Silvassa has many ruined palaces and forts.

Day 01. Arrive at Paro:
You will be received by the representative from airport and after lunch, drive to Thimphu. In the evening, visit Tashichho Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion), built in 1641 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and reconstructed in 1961 by the Late King, His Majesty King Jigme Dorji Wang chuck, who is regarded as Father of Modern Bhutan. Then visit Handicrafts Emporium to see the exquisite artistry of traditional crafts and textiles. Over night in Hotel.

Day 02. Thimphu – Punakha – Wangdiphodrang - Thimphu: (72 Kms, 3 hours drive).
After breakfast, Drive to Punakha via Dochula pass. If the weather is clear, we stop for a while at Dochula pass to view Higher Himalayas. While in Punakha, visit Punakha Dzong built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and is situated between Pho Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River).The war materials captured during the battle with Tibetans are preserved here.After Lunch, drive to Wangdi Phodrang. visit to Wangdiphodrang Dzong (from outside) built in 1638. Legend relates that as the people were searching for the site of the Dzong; four ravens were seen flying away in four directions. This was considered auspicious sign, representing the spread of religion to the four points of the compass. The Dzong is situated at the confluence of Mo Chu and Tang Chu rivers. Drive back to Thimphu in the evening. Over night in Hotel.

Day 03. Thimphu - Paro: 
After breakfast, sight seeing in Thimphu. It includes: visit the National Memorial Chorten, a monument dedicated to the Third King of Bhutan. His Late Majesty King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. The inside paintings and statues provide a very rare insight into Buddhist Philosophy. 

After lunch, visit Budha Statue one of the largest statue in Asia,visit BBS tower where you can see the bird eye view of Thimphu Town in the evening stroll Thimphu town do some shopping and over night in Hotel Migmar.

Day 04. Paro
Paro Sightseeing After Lunch, visit the Ta dzong, an ancient watchtower, which has been, since 1967, the national museum of Bhutan then visit Rimpung Dzong (Paro Dzong) built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. The Dzong presently houses administrative offices. In the evening, visit the Drukgyel dzong, now in ruins was built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to commemorate the victory over the Tibetan invaders in1644; the dzong name’s means indeed “ victorious Druk “. The Dzong was used as an administrative center until 1951 when a fire caused by butter lamp destroyed it. Then visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred monasteries dating from the introduction of Buddhism in the 8th century and Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Paro.

Day 1
Arrival in Manila.

Day 2
In the morning, take a half-day city tour of Old Manila.

The tour starts with a drive through Roxas Boulevard to Rizal Park, named in honor of the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. After a brief picture stop, proceed to the Walled City of Intramuros to visit the remnants of Spain’s conquistadores. Travel through the cobbled streets to San Agustin Church, the country’s oldest stone church, and view its wide collection of ecclesiastical icons, vestments and other religious articles. Across it is Casa Manila, a reproduction of a 19th century house equipped with oriental and european décor, as well as Philippine antique furniture. Then proceed to Fort Santiago, Manila’s main line of defense against invaders from the sea. It is a stone fort guarding the entrance to the city from Manila Bay. It has been the site of many tragic moments in Philippine history.

From Fort Santiago, drive on to Manila’s central district, Quiapo, often referred to as the heart of Manila with its market, pilgrimage church of the Black Nazarene, jeepney terminals and bazaars. Then, proceed to the Chinese cemetery, the only one of its kind in the world, where the mausoleums are as big and as elaborate as houses and where the fusion of eastern and Christian religions are very much in evidence. End the tour with a short sightseeing tour of the bustling financial and commercial district of Makati City.
In the afternoon, proceed to shopping either at the Asia’s 2nd largest mall – Mall of Asia, or Greenhills Shopping Center, a mecca for those in search for electronics, mobile phones, and latest jewellery fashion trends at the most affordable prices.

Day 3
Take a tour to Pagsanjan. Ride up the river in a small dug-out canoe, and experience the natural beauty of the tropical rainforest. The climax of the ride is the Pagsanjan waterfalls. Go underneath the waterfall to experience the raw power of nature.
Return to Manila in the late afternoon.

This day trip will introduce you to the wonders of Bohol. First stop is the Philippine Tarsier Foundation in the town of Corella, which serves as a refuge for the smallest primate in the world, the tarsier. Observe these rare, nocturnal creatures in their natural habitat and be amazed by their agility as they move about, leaping from one tree to the other, and swivel their heads nearly 360 degrees. Then proceed to Baclayon, make a short stop at the historical Blood Compact site, where Spain’s Miguel Lopez de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna, a native chieftain, sealed their friendship with a symbolic drink. In Baclayon, visit a centuries-old stone church that houses a museum containing a collection of religious art, ecclesiastical vestments, as well as librettos of church music inscribed in Latin on animal skins. Proceed with the tour, passing by Bilar man-made forest, a thick undergrowth of towering mahogany trees grown on the fringes of the highway leading to the Chocolate Hills, the country’s geological wonder. From a distance, these hills look like huge candy drops that change in color with the season, and are aptly named ‘chocolate’ when the hill grasses turn deep brown in summer. Hike up to the viewpoint for a bird’s eye view of the surrounding area before moving on to Loboc River where a cruise downstream on a floating restaurant is made more enjoyable with a delectable lunch served on board. Return to the hotel by late afternoon.
In the late afternoon, take the fast ferry back to Cebu.

Day 2 :-

Early morning we start our journey to the Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary.
The Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Orissa spreads across an area of 272.75 square kilometers. The Forest ecosystem of Kuldiha provides an ideal habitat for the largest herbivore, the Gaur as well as the burrowing Pangolin, tiger, elephant, leopards, sambar, bison, gaur Rhesus-Monkey, Malabar Civet, Sambar, Barasingha, Hanuman Langur and giant squirrels.

As one reaches the perfect clearing in the jungle, leopards can be seen licking themselves clean on extended branches of trees, while elephants and deers forage the ground. Jungle Fowl and monkeys are common sight there.

After visit Kuldiha Forest we will go to the Devkund.
Devkund Water Fall a Beautiful Picnic Spot , which is a part of the Udala division of Similipal Forest Range can be visited via Nilagiri from Panchlingeswar. This dense forest surrounded with hills. The lake formed by a waterfall jumping from a height of 50ft to the Devkund. 


There are four other falls too and each of them makes a Kund or lake so there are five Kunds in total; and that explains the name—Pancha Kunda (Place of five lakes). Climbing up more than 100 steps from Devkund, at the source of the river, there is the temple of Devi Ambika Mata (Durga temple), which is worth seeing. Pujas are still performed in the temple built by the kings of Mayurbhanj in 1940. The chirping sound of known and unknown birds, the multi-coloured butterflies add to the charm of Devkund.

After Visit Devkund our next destination Jagannath Mandir, King's Palace, Chandi Mandir & Nilgiri. Night stay at Panchalingeswar Tourist Lodge.

Day 3 :- 

Early morning after breakfat visit Bhitarkanika National Park.
Unesco World Heritage Site, Bhitarkanika is a Hot-spot of Biodiversity. It’s home to largetst population of salt water crocodile in India. The land of lush green mangroves, migrating birds and turtles, the menacing estuarine crocodiles, meandering water courses, tranquil surrounding intercepted by the chirping of birds and the ever embracing nature, entrails visitors from near and far off places to flock these unique places of tourist importance.

This winter, the total number of crocodiles stands at 1,610, which is 38 more than last year. Out of 1,610 crocodiles, 1,485 are inside the sanctuary and 125 live on the fringes.
Olive Ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea) is the most common sea turtle in Indian waters. Large nesting sites are found in Orissa, the largest nesting site ever recorded is Gahirmatha adjacent to Bhitarkanika.

After Visit Bhitarkanika we are shifted to Chandipur. Night stay at Chandipur Hotel.

Day 4 :- 

Early morning we will visit to the Chandipur Sea Beach.
Watching the sea vanish right in front of your eyes and then observing its return is a very rare site. And to add more to this hide and seek of water, the Casuarina trees and creeper sand dunes seem to be swaying on a melodious musical note.

Chandipur, where Jatin Chandra Mukherjee (popularly known as Bagha Jatin) was shot twice during his encounter with the British force. But he swam across the river and managed to escape to Barabati where a doctor along with six attendants operated on Jatin to take out the bullets. After a while, Jatin managed to reach the hideout at Chashakhanda village where the freedom fighters used to store ammunition. Unable to find the door key, he could not open the storeroom. Exhausted Jatin fell unconscious due to excessive bleeding. Later police reached the spot and got him admitted to a hospital at Barabati. Bagha Jatin was put under detention in Dhyari jail.

At 3.30pm we will visit for Buribalam, where the encounter between Bengali freedom fighter Bagha Jatin and the then British commissioner, Charles Tegart, took place.
Night stay at Chandipur Hotel.

Day 5 :- 

Morning free for lisure. At 1pm we will shited to the Balasore Railway Station. At 6pm we will reach at Howrah Station.

Moreover, the combination of a Jungle, serene sea and hilly terrain of the Eastern Ghats often proves to be a nature lover’s paradise.
